In my last post, I reviewed Hide folders, a great program for securing, hiding and locking your files or folders from prying eyes. Today, I'll write about a similar program, Hide folder ext from the same developer.
Summary:
Hide folder ext is a program similar to hide folders but completely and specially meant for protecting, hiding & locking files stored on external storage devices such as flash drives, memory cards, memory sticks, pen drives, external drives and other removable media.
The program is compatible with all windows versions starting from XP up until Windows 10. It is 64 bit compatible and supports NTFS, FAT32 and FAT file systems.
Upon launching the program, the main window shows up with a simple windows 10 inspired wizard interface. It opens with a list of all drives available for selection.
You've to select your target drive on which you want to hide the data. After selection, the program asks you if you want to hide the folder immediately or leave it visible at the moment. If you're using the program for the first time, you've to choose the "leave it visible" option and then move all your private data into the folder that's created. You have to move your data to the folder that is created. You can't create your own folders. But there is no limit to the number of subfolders. When you're done, you've to run Hide folder ext wizard again and select the "hide your data immediately" option. You'll now be asked to set a new password. Enter and that's it, you're done. Your private data is now hidden. You can access your data anytime and anywhere. Just run hide folder ext and provide your password to unlock and unhide your data. The hidden files and folders cannot be viewed even if,
- the storage device is connected to another computer no matter how it is connected; usb, card reader...etc.
- the removable drive is accessed on a computer that is booted up in safe mode.
Features:
Hide folder ext has a "portable" feature which lets you copy the program onto your removable device for easy access from any computer. Just open the file menu and select "Copy program to" and select the target device. Now, you can access your private data anywhere, anytime. Only the owner of the program with the password can view the hidden files. The program has a very simple to use wizard interface.
Hide folder ext uninstalled? Accidentally removed? No worries, your data is safe. You can access it by just installing the program again. All you need is your password and hide folder ext does the rest.
Conclusion:
For people who access data directly from their removable storage on a daily basis and want to protect their data, hide folder ext is a must-have program. The job can be done in 3 simple steps; launching the program, moving data to hidden folder using the very simple wizard interface and setting up a password.
